Our roots are in the hub of the historic industrial diamond industry at Shannon, Co. Clare in the Rep. of Ireland. This location has been synonymous with diamond processing and manufacturing since 1961 and is internationally recognized as a leading centre of industrial diamond expertise and excellence. History In The Making
In the mid-1980s with decades of industrial diamond experience gained both at home and abroad, Greg Carey could see an industry changing. Standard, off-the-shelf products that were being supplied by the more established companies were not meeting the needs of smaller clients who required a more customized approach. Similarly, bigger customers were also moving towards tailored solutions and developing more flexible supply-chain partnerships with their industrial diamond suppliers.
Client-First Model
Greg recognised that if suppliers took the time to fully understand the needs of clients and get a deeper insight into how their products were being used, solutions could be tailored to meet precise operational needs. This in turn would lead to trusted, solid working relationships with these smaller clients. At the same time, this client-first model could be applied to larger customers too who would benefit from working with a more agile, flexible supplier. In 1987, he co-founded Shannon Abrasives to meet this need in the market.
